Disney Paintings! My first artist series

Obviously, I am a huge Disney animated movie fan! That goes without saying. What isn’t obvious to anyone is that I have never painted a series before in my art career. I’ve never done a large body of similar-themed work before. So I figured, what better way to pop my cherry than with some beautiful Disney scenes. I couldn’t be more stoked about it either!

I’m kicking it off by doing a bunch of sketches on sheets of drawing paper of the characters I want for each painting. From there I will simply trace them onto the canvas with special artist transfer paper that comes with a graphite backing. That way I don’t have to re-draw each character onto each canvas!!! After all, I have a lot of man hours in the sketches alone 🙂  I will be posted the paintings to my blog here as I finish each one. I project the entire series will take me 2-3 months to complete; about 15 paintings. Most of them will be large as well.

I thought I’d share my drawings with you so you can get an idea of what kind of scenes I will be painting.

If my Disney series wasn’t exciting enough, I had a very big win yesterday in my Etsy shop. I sold 10 paintings to a luxury home in Hawaii, which ended up being the single biggest sale of my art career so far. I feel like I’m floating on cumulonimbus clouds, let me tell you! I feel like a broke a *huge barrier* with my business and it can only go up from here. Anyways, just wanted to share that with you guys.

So pumped for this Disney series!

But until next time,

let’s bring some color into the world. Let’s continue kicking butt and taking names!

Art Retrospective – Try not to laugh!!! :)

I recently put together this career retrospective video spanning back 11 years to when I first started painting. You will get to see works of art in colored pencil, graphite, charcoal, pastels, and oil paint. It is a very personal, reflective, and inspirational journey through the years.

I didn’t start out as a beach painter. I drew and painted all kinds of things, from landscapes, animals, and dogs, to portraits, houses, and still-life. I have a wealth of invaluable experience as an artist!

I had the time of my life revisiting all of these old pieces, some I hadn’t even laid eyes on in years! The purpose of this video is to encourage artists to stick with their art, no matter how rocky a start they have.

We all have to start somewhere.

I hope this exciting video inspires you to keep making art and being creative as well. Art is important and the world needs a lot more of it!

Until next time, let’s bring some color into the world!
